This was the very first recording I ever uploaded to BanjoHangout. I thought I'd dust this one off that never got posted to the SoundOff section, but is well worth checking out!
This is a cool traditional instrumental called Spanish Grass. This was recorded in Knoxville, TN at jam session 12-27-2006 in Bob Holmes' living room. We were all sitting in a circle with a digital recorder on the floor. The banjo is a little soft in the blend, I think the recorder was aimed away from the banjo LOL, but it's in there enough.
Frank Eastes (banjo) Bob Holmes (guitar), Jim Lethgo (guitar), Marvin Gideon (mandolin) who you also hear naming the chords for the guitar players, and Dennis Wilkerson (bass) ... thanks to Bob Holmes for the recording.
Nice relaxed picking...
Enjoy!
Posted in memory of Marvin Gideon, good friend, rest in peace
