Liberty banjo company (Bob Flesher and Paul Morrissey) was was of the finest independant builders back in the late 70's early 80's when Gibson was producing bad banjos. These guys made ther own flanges, tension hoops, tone rings, necks, pots, just about everything. The Liberty Co was around for only a few years (hard to make money when you build banjos this good) and they are rare, rare, rare.

Rim is 3 ply old growth maple, now over 30 years old. The inlay is equisite, intricate, the equal if not superior the Gibson, Huber etc.
The metal work is a piece of art.
And the sound is wonderful.
The banjo is all original except for maybe the tone ring. Most Liberty tone rings were etched with "The Liberty Banjo Company" on them also I've been told some were blank. Whatever the tone ring, I wouldn't mess with a thing on this banjo, it sounds too good.
