Here’s an interesting shot of a fret slotting saw in use at Hofner Guitars in the early 1980’s. Conventional thought has it that hand slotting is done with a fine tooth backsaw, so this shot was of interest to me when I observed the tooth count. Check out the entire video, as it’s got a lot of great shots of how Hofner built the Beatle Bass using a lot of hand processes that would certainly be appropriate for the small shop today. This video shows what true skill with handwork can accomplish.
