Hello all. I recently purchased a tenor banjo, but i believe the head wasnt put on correctly. At first I noticed the head was bending inward due to the string tension, so i decided to tighten it up a bit. when I looked more closely, I saw that there is a part of the head that is EXTREMELY loose, while the rest of the head is tight. It is so loose that its not even in contact with the tone ring. I tried to tighten it, but even when I went as tight as the hooks/nuts would let me go (around the loose spot, not on the whole banjo) but it doesnt seem to have fixed anything. Actually, it looks as though the rim of the head isnt even touching the tension hoop! I think maybe the head was not put on straight when it was installed. What should I do? (should I just remove the tension hoop and try to put the head on correctly?).
P.S. Im a guitar luthier so messing with the bridge, truss rod, ect. are not a problem
