A quick archive search doesn't show this question discussed since 2008 or 9. I'm ruling out Waverly/5 Stars as erratic quality and Keiths as too pricey. Gotohs work perfectly but don't look right on a prewar and those cream colored buttons are so-so looking IMO. (You can retrofit Gotohs with nicer iveroid buttons from other suppliers, but at extra cost.) The Pavels come with nice iveroid buttons and are the best replica of the prewar Grover pancake tuners for restoration/conversions, but do they work as precisely and smoothly as the Gotohs?
