Origin of Species

Hello Boys,
Fine and not quite so cold today in the People's Republic of Northumbria today.

Last night at the Folk Club I suddenly remembered that the 12th of February was the birthday of Charles Darwin, author of the 'On the Origin of Species' and showed that amongst other things under the general heading of 'evolution' that monkeys and apes were related to we humans.  Monkeys and apes have never forgiven him for this, of course.
Internet weirdos will associate him more with the 'Darwin Awards' which annually recognise people, who, through acts of terminal stupidity remove themselves from the gene pool of humanity.  Like the twenty people who organised a beachfront 'Hurricane Party' and were duly obliterated by a 24 foot wave.  Or the guy who on answering the telephone picked up his revolver by mistake and blew out his 'brains'.
One day at a well known zoo, the keeper found Arthur the gorilla studying intently a copy of the Bible in one hand and Darwin's 'Origin of Species' in the other. The keeper was surprised at this .... since Arthur had previously confined himself to comics and tabloid newspapers ...... so he asked him what he was up to.
'I'm trying to find out,' replied Arthur gravely, 'if I'm my father's keeper or my keeper's father.'

Regards,
