Is there any know-how or accepted practice where to break the melody line with the octave jump due to low range limitation?
I mean in terms of position in the measure (down-beat/up-beat), in terms of chordal/non-chordal notes etc.
E. g. imagine the melody line that goes originally to the low note C - and you simply do not want to retune the 4th string from D to C. So there are several options where to break the descending scalar line in order to fit the low D range of your banjo. What would influence you in the decision process?
