Decoding serial numbers on Rich & Taylor?

Does anybody know the pattern Rich & Taylor used for their serial numbers? Can you tell the year of manufacture from this number. All the ones I have seen use a four digit DASH two-three digit pattern, like 9404-101 or 9302-43, or something like that (I just made those numbers up).

 Anybody know?
