This is the closest forum I could think of to place this thread.
What do you think constitutes calling a banjo your own?
I'd say this spectrum goes from assembling all previously made parts yourself to making every part in-house. Where would you draw the line on calling it, or branding it, "yours"? When is it a "parts banjo" and no longer a "my name here" model?
Are there even any banjo builders, open-back included, that make everything in-house? I suppose a hardware supplier like Bill Rickard would be my best guess. Or a gourd or mountain style builder maybe.
I understand that there might be a clear, legal definition out there. But since this music/business is very much about a culture of honor, i wanted to get your opinions on the matter...these interpretations often extend beyond "de jure" law. Thanks ahead for the thoughtful responses.
