Hi there. I just purchased a 1988 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard serial #1235 and would like to know who made the rims for these banjos. I am trying to get to know my new friend as well as possible and would like toknow who made the various components. I did a search to try to get the info without bothering anybody but all I seemed to find is that the older honey colored ones seemed to have a Stew-Mac rim. I have removed the tonering and it has a funky symbol on the bottom then a letter and number which seems to indicate it is a Kulesh ring. The number on the ring coincides with the number in marker on top of the rim. I have determined that the D-tuners are of the Keith variety and not the Schaller's. I thought that it came with after market tuners since my 85 RB250 had gibson offset tuners on it and this one had 5 star tuners which looked completely out of place with the fifth string and d-tuner buttons and finish, but apparently those are factory according to some info I found through a search. Now I just want to know about the rim. Thanks for any info you can give me and please correct me if the other conclusions I have drawn through using the search function of the site are incorrect. By the way I love this banjo.
